what i liked about this show was seeing J Witkin's process, as many of these drawings were studies for oil paintings. most of the drawings were black and white with scrawled notes and references on them. some looked haphazard yet complete with strong darks and intricate details. my favorite was a self-portrait with collage elements entitled 'self-portrait as a plain man in a fancy shirt.'
